To begin, we make sure to choose the best suited species and location when planting a new tree. If your tree doesn’t have enough space to grow, sufficient sun and water to feed it, or the proper environment to fit that species’ needs, it will surely suffer. This will then lead to major problems down the road.
Correctly planting trees also means proper planting at the physical and biological level. This includes: digging the right sized hole, planting at the correct depth, properly cutting away the basket and burlap, facing the tree in the best direction, proper staking and mulching, starter pruning where necessary, and watering.
